Alright, so I just had to blog about this. Who watches Doctor Who? I'm not talking about the older version, but the newer one with David Tennant as the main Doctor. I've been watching it with Devin, and we are nearing the end of the third season already (there are 7). It's a pretty fun show and I would recommend it to anyone. So anyways, last night we watched this episode called "Blink" and it was the most clever episode I had ever seen! Not only from Doctor Who, but most clever out of any show that I have ever seen (and I've seen quite a bit). Not only that, it was actually the most freaked out that I've ever been by a show. It was pretty suspenseful, and that made it creepy. It got really good reviews on imdb... Click here to see for yourself
So you're probably wondering what it's about. It's about these aliens that are in the form of angel statues. They are always covering their eyes so you can never see what their faces look like. Once you are in the presence of one though, every time you look away they keep sneaking closer to you without you noticing at first. Well, you could be like, "What? I swear that statue was further away last time I looked." But when you look away again, they come even closer! I'm not going to give it all away, but if you finally get touched by one while looking into its eyes (yup, they no longer have their eyes covered), you are sent to another year and place in the past (this girl got sent to the 1920s in a different city in England). It's crazy stuff! You should watch it if you're interested. If you ever are interested in watching only one episode of Doctor Who, you should chose this episode.
I wanted to blog about this because I was just that impressed.

First family photo
Okay, so this is our first family photo. It was in color, but I edited it in Picasa. If you don't know what that is, it's kind of like photoshop, but not as good. I still like it, though. I've always liked black and white photos better than color for the most part. There's just something about it.
We went to JCPenny for the photoshoot. Isaac was sooo good! We did this when he was about 3 weeks old. We have a lot more pictures of just him that I'll have to post later. I love them all!
Devin and I carved our first pumpkin last night, too. Totally forgot to take pictures :( but I'll be sure to take one of the pumpkin soon. Hopefully someone won't come and destroy it before then. One Halloween when I was a kid our pumpkins were destroyed and I was super sad!

The 5 S's
Okay, so I'm not home 24/7, but sometimes it feels like it. Every once in a while Devin gives me a break, and I go out on my own or hang out with other family, usually my brother Mickey. Today I had to go to Bed Bath and Beyond to get a wedding present, and Devin gave me some time to do that while he stayed home with Isaac. I only had an hour, but it was something.
Isaac started crying a lot after I typed that first paragraph, so I had to calm him down. I thought he was hungry, but that wasn't it. I don't know what was up, but just yesterday I watched this video called, "The happiest baby on the block" (something I should have watched right after Isaac was born... oh well!), so this guy talks about using the 5 S's to calm your baby. Thankfully, I was already doing most of it, but there was some new stuff that I learned. So first of all the 5 S's are: swaddling, side/stomach (as in putting the baby on one), shushing, swinging, and sucking. As long as you are doing these, your baby should be the happiest baby on the block! lol. But seriously, it works! At least with mine. I was already doing the swaddling, swinging, and sucking (pacifier since I can't breastfeed), but I didn't know that putting your baby on his side would calm him down! Also, I would shush, but I learned that you're supposed to shush as loud as the baby is crying or at least loud enough for him to hear. And it's good to let his head giggle like jello (part of swinging), because that's how it was when he was inside of the mommy. Doing all five at the same time is the best way for baby to calm down completely and most likely go to sleep. So I just did this and little Isaac is fast asleep. :) Yay!
Tonight will be the first wedding reception that Isaac with be attending. It's exciting! But I'm looking forward to going to the ones where he'll actually remember what happened.

Family is everything
This is my first blog ever! YAY!! I did have a livejournal back in high school, though, so that was kinda like a blog. If you're interested in my past livejournal entries you can click here: http://gummybabe586.livejournal.com/ ... hopefully that works.
So I'm sure you already know, I'm a new mama! On August 10th I gave birth to our beautiful baby Isaac Odin. He is the most amazing baby and I'm so happy to be his mother! He's only two months old, and already well-behaved! Hope he keeps it up. :) Just seeing him smily makes my heart melt. I love being with him every day, just me and him chillin'. It's not as hard as I thought it would be really. I'm not saying it's always easy, but I am truly blessed. I mean, I usually even get a descent amount of sleep each night. On average about 6 hours a night. The least amount I've had is around 3 hours, and that's only happened once I think.
I don't want to type a whole lot because I don't want to bore anyone. I know when I see blogs where people have typed wayyy too much I never want to read it all because well it's just too much! No offense. Sometimes there are some worth reading, though. And honestly, I'll probably have long ones every once in a while, and I completely understand if you don't read every single word and just skim it.
Just know that life isn't all that bad. It's not the best life ever, but it's not the worst either. I'm happy in general, and I know things will get better. I'm optimistic about my future. I love my husband Devin and my wonderful Isaac, and they are the most important things in my life and all I really need to be happy. Family is everything!
