Stomach flu and urgent care

Okay, so my last blog entry was definitely not a hit.  I guess people aren't interested to know that I'm a plant killer.  Goodness,  it was only one plant and it was an accident!  Haha.  Oh well...

On to more exciting news.

Isaac and I just got over the stomach flu, and now Devin has it. :(  I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later.  I haven't had it for about five or six years now.  I knew I probably jinxed myself when I last mentioned that.  I am just so happy that it only lasts for about a day.  Could you imagine being that sick for a whole month or even longer?  Sorry women who have had to deal with morning sickness for their entire first trimester!  Dang, I don't know how I would handle that.  I was fortunate to not have had to deal with morning sickness at all when I was pregnant with Isaac.  I'm hoping it stays that way with future pregnancies.

I was really worried about Isaac.  Seeing my precious little boy throwing up was no fun at all.  All I wanted to do was make him feel better and cuddle with him.  Poor guy.

I was also really worried about Isaac when he fell on the bookshelf a couple weeks ago.  Almost gave me a heart attack!  I was even there right with him, and all of a sudden he tripped on his footy pajamas that he was wearing, and I didn't have enough time to get him out of the way.  Blood started streaming down his face while he was crying, so of course I freaked out like any other worried mother would do!  I picked Isaac up and raced into our bedroom to tell Devin, "Isaac is bleeding a lot and we need to go to the emergency room right now!!"  We rushed out the door and ended up heading to urgent care instead because Isaac had calmed down and it didn't look as bad as I thought.  Long story short, he thankfully did not need stitches and had his cut glued instead.  If he ended up needing stitches, we would have had to go to the emergency room because they have to put babies under for that.  I am so grateful we didn't have to go through that!

Here's the closest picture I got to his injury.  See... not so bad after all.

You can kinda see it in this picture...

and in this one a little better.

It's funny how sometimes a lot of blood ensues with minor cuts.  I'm very glad it wasn't as bad as I originally had thought it would be.  I really am not looking forward to the day when Isaac gets his first set of stitches.  Let's hope he never has to get any.

I am a plant killer

So I've been meaning to tell everyone about how I am a plant killer.  It's sad, but true...

Proof

I went to a relief society activity and we learned about gardening and the best way to take care of your plants, and I go home and do this... haha.  I promise I didn't do it on purpose!  I gave my pansy the water it needed, but I kept forgetting to open the blinds to give it direct sunlight.  This isn't the best picture of it, but the pansy is pretty much dead. :(  This was actually taken a couple weeks ago, so it looks completely dead now.  On a positive note though, I painted this pot which I love so much, and I will definitely use it next time I plant something.  I will try really hard not to kill my next plant!  Have any of you had experiences with accidentally killing your plants?  Any funny stories would be lovely to hear about! :)

I have a new blog layout!!

So before I talk about these Isaac pictures on the side, I'd like to give a big thank you to Nikki Yorgason for helping me out with my blog and telling me about the cutest blog on the block!  So that is where I got my new background.  Do you like it!?  Also Nikki, I don't know how, but it somehow deleted my new pinterest and twitter links.  I'll look into putting those back in later...

So about these pictures in one picture on the side.  These are some of Isaac's 6th month pictures.  I just never posted anything about them until now.  He is almost 9 months old.  I can't believe it!  So of course we took a few pictures with hearts because it was right before Valentine's Day.  My cover photo on my facebook profile is also from the shoot.  That's my favorite one.  I just love my little Isaac!  I feel bad because I haven't taken many pictures of him since the shoot.  I was worried too, because a couple weeks ago or so I thought I had lost my camera, but I had just left it at a friend's house.  It accidentally sneaked under her couch, but it was found and I got it back! :)  So now I have an even greater desire to take pictures.

I also made a shutterfly book for Isaac called "Isaac's first photo album birth to 6 months."  So I'm planning on making one that's from 6 months to a year. (I got a coupon for a free photo album!  Can't pass that up!)

Oh, and just so everyone knows- we were going to move to Minnesota this past weekend, but it didn't work out.  So we are here until at least the end of August because that's when our contract ends.  It's crazy how we could have been in Minnesota already.  I'm glad we get to stay in Utah a little longer though, because now I get to spend more time with friends and family here. :)

Gratitude for Service

I am so grateful for the good people in this world that love to serve others, and when they serve me; it makes me even more grateful for them.  There was a lady at the store today in front of me at the check out line.  I had a ton of groceries to load on the belt while holding little Isaac.  She turned to me and said, "Let me help you unload your groceries.  You have your little baby with you, and I want to help!"  I said, "Okay, thank you so much!"  So then she helped, and I wanted to thank her again, but she left with her groceries before I could.  I just love people like that.

I also just started thinking about what others have done for me when I needed help the most.  Right after I had my baby in the hospital, there were a whole bunch of women in the Relief Society (women's organization of the LDS church) that brought me meals for two weeks straight!  I was just amazed at how many of them volunteered to make us dinner.  I will be forever grateful for every single one of them that did that for us.  Most of those meals were so delicious, too!  These women know how to cook.  :)

These are just a couple examples of service that others have done for me.  It's people like this that make me have a desire to serve others.  I'm so grateful for them.  Because they touched me, I want others to feel the same way that I have.

We need to be POSITIVE

I should probably blog more, but I just never really know what to write about.  I always want to write inspiring words, anything that will help people in their lives to become better people.  Because that's what I want to do.  I swear that's what I was born to do... to help others.  I haven't been doing much of that in my blog lately though, huh?  I mean, I want to show off my little Isaac sometimes too, and let people catch up on our lives.  I won't stop doing that, but I think I'm going to try to make my blog more meaningful.

I know I can't help everyone.  No matter how hard I try sometimes, I feel like I want to do so much more but then I just can't.  I just gotta try my best, and that's all that matters, right?  Even if sometimes I feel like I haven't done my best, I shouldn't get so down on myself.  I read a blog once about drops of awesomeness.  Every time you do something good, take it as a drop of awesomeness.  That way you're not always focusing on all the negative things and more on the positive.  I need to do that more.  I think everyone should do that.  We all need more positivity in our lives and get rid of anything that's negative.

Remember livejournal?

I remember when I had a livejournal, and I wrote in it all the time.  I thought it was so cool.  It was kind of the social network before myspace and facebook.  I still have it somewhere.  Let me go look for it... looking....  haha, found it.  Click here to view my lifejournal

Those were the days.  Haha.  I was probably a lot more annoying than I am now.  I was strange and naive.  I think I still am sometimes.  I have changed quite a bit, though.

Did anyone else have a lifejournal?  If you had one and it's still on the internet, you should share it with me if you're not too embarrassed about it.

P.S- I need some help with some things on my blog.  Can anyone tell me how to change the font other than the options that are on the main blog entry page?  And also, how do you add the facebook and Pinterest signs like most people have to let other people connect to their other accounts?  I might need to get someone in person to help me out, but maybe I'll be smart enough to figure it all out if someone helps me out through a comment or message.  Thank you!

Splurging... it happens

So today I ate at four different restaurants.  That is very rare for me, but when it happens, I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with it.  Even if they are all fast food places.  BUT one of them was Orange Julius, so we were kinda healthy when it came down to that, right?  Devin and I shared a mango-pineapple original julius together.  It was delicious.  I should have taken a picture!  Would you think I was a crazy person if I took a picture of every meal I had today?  Maybe, huh?  Maybe it's a good thing I don't have an iphone yet, because I would be taking pictures right and left and always posting on instagram.  I think people would end up finding me annoying.  Oh well... they already do.

If I were to have taken a picture of my food from in n out... it would have looked something like this:  mmmmm it was so good!!  Those burgers don't look like they're animal style, though.  We had animal style burgers.  Can't have it any other way.  Seriously, if you ever go to In n out, ALWAYS ask for animal style burgers and fries or else they don't taste that great.  I gotta say, this was my favorite meal of the day.

And then we ate at-

And I had one of these beauties-
sooooo good!

That's at the same time we had the orange julius, too.  We walked around the mall a bit, and then went home to change a diaper and Devin went to play video games with friends.  Isaac and I went on a long walk to get the game Balderdash that I came across on freecycle.  This is a site where you can find stuff for FREE!!  I LOVE IT!
Freecyle Prove Site  (Also may be near you if you are not in Provo)

Got the game, but it has no cover.  I laughed!  Can't always have everything in perfect condition.  I will make my own cover, and it will be amazing!

On my way to borrow Les Miserable from a friend, she wasn't home so I decided to go to-

I had a swiss bagel with avocado in it.  It was sooo good!  I ate it along with some guacamole chips and code red mountain dew.  It was perfect!  Isaac was sleeping in his stroller so he couldn't see me enjoy it.

Anyways, my point is that splurging is okay every now and then. :)  And when it's not done very often, it makes it even more amazing!!

30 before 30 Bucket List

A friend of mine did a 25 before 25 bucket list, and I thought it was a great idea and wanted to do it myself!  There are so many things I want to do in my life-time and I think this is a good start!  These are not in any particular order...

7. Go to the zoo

8.  Make all of my repinned recipes from pinterest

16. Get Isaac a new book once a month

17. Learn how to whistle (yeah, I still can't :/ )

18.  Finally go to Niagara Falls with Devin ... in the winter!  Never been there in the winter. :)

19. Backpack through Europe with Devin

20. Learn how to Knit

21. Go to Cedar Point!

22. Make Sarmale (stuffed cabbage)

23. Visit family in Ohio at least twice

24. Purchase an iphone5

30. Get sealed to my family in the temple (most important)

Think I'll be able to get them all done?  I sure hope so!

Rediscovering Photo Booth

Have you ever messed around with Photo Booth before?  It is tons of fun!  When Devin and I were dating we used to goof around with it occasionally.  Here are some examples of our goofiness-

I even had fun with it with my sister-in-law Courtney and my nephew Keaton.  He's only a year old or so here.  He's 3 now and looks very different.  It's amazing what a couple of years does to you when you're a kid.

After two years of not using Photo Booth, I finally discovered it again last night, and had too much fun with Isaac!

Look at his face in this one! Haha!

Can you tell Devin loves the camera?

So the point of all this?  Photo Booth is amazing!!  Now time for bed.  It's 3 in the morning.  One of those nights where Isaac was too excited he wouldn't go back to sleep, but he is asleep now. :)  I hope you enjoyed looking at all these pictures.
